Gorgeous Smackdown’s Diva, Victoria have recently ventured into custom car making. At a tender age, she’s has been avid about driving and cars. She has recently made this announcement on her blog, which have been updated here at WrestlingMAT

It must be nice to be able to sit at home, receive hefty WWE paycheck without doing anything – and that’s what Bobby Lashley is getting now. As part of the agreement on his release, WWE has agreed to pay Bobby Lashley his full contract until the end of May. In exchange, Bobby Lashley will not be allowed to jump to TNA during this period of time.

Well apparently, when you type in “Steroids” on Google.com, a photo of Batista is the first thing that show up. Ahem.

The Great Khali’s translator/manager, Ranjin Singh, is going to be off television for some time. Singh sustained a fractured patella after he was kicked from the entrance of the Elimination Chamber to the ground by Undertaker at No Way Out, this past Sunday. No word have been confirmed whether his character will be written off the storylines.

WWE’s internet marketing department have been rather aggressive lately. WWE now has official accounts on YouTube, Flickr and Facebook. You can see their YouTube page here, Flickr here and Facebook here. They’re branding their pages as the “WWE Fan Nation.” Quite a good move to engage the fans around the world.

Marty Jannetty was among the many wrestling names at the recent WrestleSlam UK convention. Jannetty stated to the press that nowadays people in WWE are being brought up way too soon and put into positions they’re not ready for. Jannetty used Mr Kennedy as an example. Furthermore, Jannetty stated that Shawn Michaels backs up his claim on Kennedy whenever the two talk. Kennedy is also rather unpopular among most of the senior wrestlers.

MVP’s reign as the United States Champion have recently crossed 282 days mark. This segment him as one of the 5 longest reigning U.S Champion, beating notable names such as Ric Flair, Chris Benoit, Sting and Stone Cold. By far, he is the longest reigning US champion of his generation. *Applaud*

Right now the news are hot with Divas on WWE/Playboy. A while back, “CW11 News” in New York City did a segment where they interviewed 3 Hooters girls who had previously posed for Playboy. One of the girls, Beverly Mullins, mentioned that she will be heading to WWE. You can view the video segment here. Mullins is not the only Playboy model under a WWE developmental contract right now, former Diva Search contestant and Playboy model, Taryn Terrell is also in. I’ve updated her blog here at WrestlingMAT

Nose Shows?

February 18, 2008

As expected earlier, The Big Show made a triumphant return at No Way Out, last night. The Big Show accompanied by Shane Mcmahon had an on screen confrontation with the current WBC Welterweight Champion, Floyd Mayweather. The confrontation led to a straight jab from Floyd right into the face of the Big Show. It is said that the Big Show suffered a legitimate broken nose, which caused him to bleed pretty badly. Not a good start for a big return here.

Another “show” received a broken nose as well. And that is the Showstopper, Shawn Michael. It is said that he had some difficulties continuing last night’s Elimination Chamber match. Not much word have been said but he should be able to work for tonight’s RAW.

Chained Up For The Chain Gang

February 18, 2008

The creative team might not pull the punch in the storylines, but hell, I have to admit they are full of surprises. Well guys, pardon me for this late update today. I was sitting for my media examination, which I’ve been muggling for days.

Anyway back to the topic! I got the results out for No Way Out but haven’t been able to watch it yet. With Orton loss to Cena through a DQ, it is likely that an angle between Cena, Triple H and Orton will continue. This will set up huge ground for Cena to win the title at Mania.

It is said that the writers are considering putting Jeff into the title chase as well but no words have been confirmed. Wrestlemania 24 is 42 days away and that means Randy can hold the title till then. Initially, Randy was complaining that his spot light was not bright and long enough. Till Mania, he would hold the title for 170+ days, and that makes him second only to Cena’s title reign for their generation, beating Brock Lesnar and Edge. Bet he is grinning somewhere now.

Column Of The Week: My Way To The Highway

February 17, 2008

It started with a creative idea from Eric Bischoff and it evolved into a massive, high profiled match at Madison Square Garden on 2002. By far, 5 separate elimination chamber matches have torn 20 men apart. Tonight, the solid steel beams, thick vast of chain and ten tonnes of punishment will placed 12 men within its grasp. 3 brands, 2 matches, 2 winners, 1 night of glory.

Survivor Series 2002
The World Heavyweight Championship was on the line at the first Elimination Chamber. Shawn Michaels, Booker T, Rob Van Dam, Kane, Chris Jericho, and Triple H all entered the steel chamber. A sweet chin music from Michaels hailed him back to the top with thunderous applaud crowning his success.

Summerslam 2003
The second EC participants were Triple H, Chris Jericho, Goldberg, Randy Orton, Kevin Nash, and Shawn Michaels. Goldberg was the man of the match before being ambushed by Triple H & his protege of evolution.

New Year’s Revolution 2005
Edge, Batista, Chris Jericho, Chris Benoit, Triple H, and Randy Orton stepped into the 3rd Elimination Chamber to fight for a vacant World Heavyweight Championship. Shawn Michael was the guest referee. This match will be remembered mainly for the fans cheering for Batista to turn on his Evolution teammate Triple H.

New Year’s Revolution 2006
Kurt Angle, Kane, Shawn Michaels, Chris Masters, and Carlito stepped into the cage to fight for John Cena’s WWE Heavyweight Championship. John Cena remained the top and after the match, Edge cashed in on his Money in the Bank award and captured the gold from the weakened Cena.

December to Dismember 2006
The Big Show put his ECW Heavyweight Championship on the line in the 5th Elimination Chamber. The challengers were CM Punk, Hardcore Holly, Rob Van Dam, Test, and Bobby Lashley. This match added unique hardcore elements of steel chair, crowbar, barbed wire, baseball bat, and tables. Bobby Lashley captures the title after eliminating Test and the Big Show.

No Way Out 2008 [RAW]
RAW’s Elimination Chamber will be hyped up with three experienced wrestlers heading to the match. Shawn Michaels will be at EC for his 5th time. Triple H and Chris Jericho will be entering for the 4th time. Triple H held the highest winner record in EC with two victory. Jeff/JBL/Umaga have never stepped into the EC before. The final push has been narrowed to two names, Jeff and Triple H. Triple H vows to be the man tonight and Jeff has built considerable amount of momentum to be able cash his victory.

No Way Out 2008 [ECW/SMACKDOWN]
Pretty new entrants for this side. Only Batista entered the EC before. Undertaker/Khali/Finlay/Big Daddy V/MVP are new to this match. With Mysterio possible departure, it would be interesting to see how things would turned out. Again, it has been to narrowed down to two names, its either Undertaker or Batista. My vote would definitely be with Taker since the original plan of Edge/Taker have not been changed.

Some interesting things to note, many who had competed in the EC have surprisingly high chances of leaving the company. Of all the 20 unique men who had entered, nearly half of them have left the company in some ways. This includes Booker T, RVD, Goldberg, Kevin Nash, Chris Benoit, Kurt Angle, Chris Masters, Test & Bobby Lashley.

Since there are two EC matches in one night, be prepared for a short display of performances. (yes, booooooo~) The conservative nature of the management style have always been safe guarding its talent. Furthermore, the impending grand daddy, Wrestlemania, would require them to be around for good. So, with that said, enjoy the matches tonight! Short & Sweet.

Mysterio Injured!

February 15, 2008

I guess many should have heard the news by now that Rey Mysterio suffered an apparent biceps injury at last night’s SmackDown/ECW brand house show in Santiago, Chile.

He was teaming up with Kane against the Edgeheads (Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder). Rey Mysterio did manage to pull through and finish the match. After being evaluated by the WWE medical crew, Rey Mysterio flew back to the United States to see the renown Dr James Andrew for further examination. Dr James Andrew is the doctor that worked on John Cena, Triple H, and Bobby Lashley in the past.

The emphasis now is not on how he got injured but the complications to come. Mysterio is scheduled to wrestle Edge for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship this Sunday at No Way Out, and a possible match with Punk at Wrestlemania 24. His injury is a double blow to the present, poor performing creative writers.

The possible solutions are narrated down to a few names. Right now, FCW, WWE’s development organization are keen to release Big Show back into action. Unless the management are willingly to allow Show to step over Edge and prepare to let Batista win the EC, this would set up a blockbuster match of Batista/Show World title match at Mania. Of course, the very “creative” team often would choose to take the conventional way. Slot someone in to fill Mysterio place this Sunday, such as Kane.

Wrestlemania 24 Update

February 11, 2008

WrestlingMAT is back with another update for the upcoming Wrestlemania.

The official theme song this year will be Snow “Hey Oh” by Red hot chilli peppers. This song won the Grammy last year, you can listen it here.

Vince has been very keen on the idea of having two faces headlining Wrestlemania, which is Triple H vs John Cena. Fans has expressed their concerns over Triple H’s troubling matters with his family. By and large, I can said, it would not affect his match at Mania.

Last year, Pop Princess, Britney Spears was actually approached to make an appearance at Mania 23. However she declined the invitation. It happened likewise for this year.

Hulk Hogan Vs Stone Cold should be unlikely to happen. Both men have personal tight schedule to follow, plus the lack of interest to do this match was also a compelling factor.

However, you can anticipate a Rock/Austin or Hogan/Austin promo to be cut at Mania this year.

Y2J/JBL and MVP/Matt Hardy match remained in the confirmation list.

Management has played down the Punk/Edge feud which means there could be a possible twist in the story. For Punk to win the title from Chavo at No Way Out is still 50-50. Writers has been getting heavy stress on who to place as Punk’s opponent at Wrestlemania if he were to win it next Sunday. Chavo remained the highest possible. Mysterio name also surfaced.

Both the writers and Vince are not keen to push Michaels for a win over Flair at Maina because of the fact that he was already an established star. They want young stars to have the moment, which means Batista or Orton remained high candidates now.

There are no much talks to change Undertaker/Edge match so it remained a high possible match. Edge/Vicki segment is likely to be put to an end as well.

The Mcmahon/Finlay/Hornswoggle angle is likely to involve the returing Big Show though words have not been confirmed.

As reported earlier, Jeff’s condition is getting worse and management has expressed their woes to put Jeff in a high profile/risk match at Mania. Therefore he is likely to just defend his I.C title. Having both Jeff/Matt to win the secondary titles of each brand is still something feasible.

As a whole, Vince has been commenting that despite a possible bad weather outbreak, the show will still go on.

Triple H’s Absence

February 7, 2008

It was noted that Triple H had missed this week’s RAW due to “‘a family emergency” Due to upcoming tours in Alaska, South Korea, and Japan over the next two weeks, WWE taped two weeks of Raw last night and will be taping two weeks worth of SmackDown & ECW shows tonight & tomorrow. It is unknown at the moment if Triple H’s emergency will affect his participation on WWE’s upcoming international tour as he’s advertised to appear to on it. Also, there will be no build up on Hunter’s appearance till next Sunday’s No Way Out.

The reason Triple H missed Raw on Monday is because his 41-year old brother-in-law, Gordon B. Ouellette, who was married to his sister Lynn Levesque, suddenly passed away on Monday at Southern NH Medical Center. Going through the history book, Triple H was one of the few men who would put family matters into his professional career, let alone at this time when he needed to convince the management to put the title around his waist. It seems that he have to be away for some time.

Present Plans For Wrestlemania 24

February 4, 2008

The promotional poster for Wrestlemania 24 is out, you can view it here.

There are several plans that would likely to happen in this year’s Mania. Of course these opinions are mere speculations and WWE has high tendacy to change their final card 24/7 to make sure everything fits.

SO, with that said, let’s turn out attention to No Way Out. First up, Triple H is likely to win the EC and face John Cena at Wrestlemania. Even so, the 11 time world heavyweight champion have not kept his mind off. It is said that he has been bootlicking backstage so he could walk out as the 12th time champion.

There should be some angle involving McMahon/Finlay/Hornswoggle. It looks sluggish so I wouldn’t pay my attention on it.

Who will retire Ric Flair? The three likely candidates are Shawn Michaels, Batista and Randy Orton. Shawn and Flair has been legends, it would be good to hype up a legend vs legend match. Batista on the otherhand has been fond of Flair. It was Flair who taught him to be the man. An Apprentice vs Master match really sounds feasible. Lastly, with Randy off the title, the legend killer ending Flair should pull some stop.

The World Title side would end up in both ways. Writers have been frustrated with the sudden twists in many stories due to Lashley possible departure. It is likely that Taker will face Edge at Wrestlemania or Batista vs Mysterio.

The feud between Matt Hardy and MVP will resume very soon. The reason why Matt Hardy has yet to return is to wait for an appropriate time to feud with MVP. He is cleared off all injuries at the moment.

Column Of The Week: Why Lashley Why?

February 3, 2008

The most breaking news on January was Bobby Lashley Departure. He was the man, a multi-time champ and perhaps one of the most talented and good natured wrestler.

This was the guy that Vince McMahon built an entire brand (ECW) around him. This was the guy that Vince McMahon chose to put in the highest profile match at Wrestlemania last year. This was the guy that Vince was particularly fond of, who will be future hall of fame.

Now, this was also the guy who turned his back on the company.

Why Lashley Why?
There are a few reasons speculating his departure. Although Lashley only stated “that circumstances beyond his control has led to the departure”, we felt it was something more.

1) Bobby Lashley girlfriend, Kristall Marshall, a former Smackdown diva was released unknowingly by WWE late last year. Although there are no claims that she was the triggering factor, she remained a high possibility. It isn’t a mystery that Lashley is a Mr. Nice Guy who seems to be pushed around.

2) Too Stress To Be The Man
Very few people outside of WWE were aware that Bobby Lashley was unhappy. Then again, that’s not a surprise since very people inside the company weren’t aware either. To be the champ, you always have to overwork. That’s the key. Former WWE superstar, Kurt Angle, have also stressed his grievance on tight schedule of the company before.

3) Try New Things
Unlike other wrestlers, Lashley is fond of real style fighting. He is not grounded to wrestling because that’s an entertainment or that’s marketable. He is grounded to his interest. Lashley have always expressed interest to pick up other forms of fighting, so don’t be surprised if you see him elsewhere of wrestling.

Complications
Lashley was actually cleared off injury since December last year, the time where his gf was released. The company decided to hold him till Royal Rumble where he was supposed to return at no.30 instead of John Cena.

With that set, Lashley will then face Triple H at Wrestlemania. It would also mean, Triple H Vs Randy for the WWE Title at No Way Out, instead of participating in the Elimination Chamber. With heavy changes on the storylines for RAW, Smackdown also faced obstacles to push Taker to be with Edge at Wrestlemaina. Now, for the first time in WWE history, Both RAW and Smackdown will have EC on the same night. Guess it is something to look forward to.

With Lashley departure, words are going around backstage on who to replace Lashley. Right now, WWE are keen to push youngster such as Randy, Cena, Batista, CM Punk, Edge and Mysterio. It is likely that either Kennedy or Jeff would take his place.

Future
The official statement has still not been released by WWE. If you pray and believe in miracle, perhaps Lashley will not leave. Management team are going one by one to persuade Lashley to stay and that includes Shane Mcmahon. Now it is said that Vince, has personally gone down to see him.

Vince is trying to lure Lashley to sign on a reduced schedule contract, like Taker and Michaels. If Lashley insists to leave, it is likely that he would face the same contractual clause which forbids him to work for another wrestling company in a given time. Which means, either TNA or WWE wouldn’t get him.

That leaves him to join UFC, a renowned martial art organization. If so, fans will definitely turn their attention to UFC since Brock Lesnar has recently signed on. A Lesnar vs Lashley would sure set to be world class. The marketing value of that match would outweigh anything else, even bigger than Wrestlemania.

It is a pity that a well-groomed wrestler is leaving. Unlike many other wrestlers, Lashley’s fate in the company was good. He was given great chances to excel and never faced the fate of being an underdog.

The only thing i can comment is, perhaps the lack of ability to handle stress level is detrimental. Lashley is already 32 years old, but maturity comes with experience and not with age. Like Kurt, Lashley is more into wrestling than to entertainment. Maybe that’s why.

As a final note, WrestlingMAT would like to extend our well wishes to Bobby Lashley. May you enjoy success.
